The Rules

The Rules of the Game

Simple constraints, because the constraints are what make it work.

  1. One idea per week. Usually a domain I already own and have neglected. Sometimes something brand new.
  2. Build it to usable. Not perfect — usable. It has to do the one thing it promises.
  3. Ship on Friday. Every week, on the deadline, done or not. The deadline is the point.
  4. Build in public. Every week gets a write-up: the pick, the process, the result, the lessons.
  5. Keep a queue. A rolling list of next ideas, so Monday never starts from a blank page.
  6. No infinite polishing. When Friday comes, I ship what exists and move on. Iteration can come later; momentum can’t.

That’s it. Fifty-two weeks, fifty-two ideas, shipped.
